Description
The project GRENNAT faces challenges that are important for the entire program area, as it follows European reinforcement for improving the state of biodiversity in the Natura 2000 area and in other priority areas of nature to improve the state of species and habitat types, regulation of visitors visit to the most stressed parts of nature and investing in green infrastructure in the urban environment. The general goal of the project is to upgrade the long-term cross-border green infrastructure plan, implement measures for the sustainable cross-border development of Natura 2000 areas, and better ensure the visibility of results to improve the protection and preservation of the natural environment and biodiversity and the transfer and reuse of the project's achievements to new areas of the program. The innovative solutions defined by the project are the preparation of a joint action plan for the management of NATURA 2000 areas, the transfer and reuse of the effects of the GREVISLIN project, the implementation of environmental pilot activities in NATURA 2000 areas and the pilot implementation of investments in green infrastructure in the cross-border basins of the Soča and Vipava rivers. The project at the cross-border level ensures the optimal improvement of achievements in the preparation of the project and conceptual design of green infrastructure, the use of ecosystem services, the management of protected areas and the transfer of good practices, thus contributing to the protection of nature and sustainable development. The results of the project will be used by professional institutions and interest groups, local, regional and national authorities in the transfer of good practices, as well as by the general public, who will be better informed about nature conservation issues. Cross-border cooperation is key, as it plans to develop green infrastructure in the cross-border area.Through measures to capitalise on the long-term cross-border green infrastructure plan, improve monitoring and management of river basins and provide professional bases for the development of green infrastructure.
Implement pilot measures of green infrastructure (educational paths) and improve the management of Natura 2000 areas with maximum protection in order to strengthen ecosystem services, increase public awareness and information.
Strengthen cross-border cooperation in the creation of a new INFO NATURA 2000 point and ensure better visibility of project results.
